ACVC launches Ad_Venture Women network

Ad_VentureWomen, the network of women in venture capital of the Chilean Venture Capital Association, began with a great turnout.

The event was made possible by Carey's support, and brought together more than forty women who put their heads together to share and analyze the gaps they have faced in their VC journey, and then discuss ways to reduce them with concrete actions.

"As an association, we are focused on working on the gender gaps in this industry, a problem that no ecosystem worldwide has been able to solve completely yet," says Magdalena Guzmán, executive director of ACVC. And precisely one of the first problems is to determine how many women actually work in the area and, in turn, how many of them are in decision-making positions.

The participants were divided into working groups, and then exposed the most recurrent gaps, but also some unexpected ones. Lack of knowledge of the industry was among the first, but they also highlighted the "imposter syndrome" or having reservations about switching to this ecosystem and facing the unusual challenges it entails.

The lunch was enlivened by a fireside chat between Bernardita Araya Kleinsteuber, manager of CMPC Ventures, and Joyce Zylberberg, co-founder and Managing Partner of Screen Capital S.A., a woman-founded fund manager.

For half an hour, both shared their experience in the industry, what led them to enter it and how their respective professional paths challenged them, but also allowed them to become references.

Then it was time to work again in groups to analyze how the gaps identified could be filled with concrete actions.

From the ACVC we thank all those who were part of this initiative, as well as their commitment to future Ad_Venture Women activities.
